The Cost Per Serving Calculator helps RV campers, outdoor cooks, and home chefs determine the exact cost of each recipe and the cost per portion. Instead of guessing how much a meal costs, this tool uses a simple package-to-plate formula to break down ingredient expenses accurately.

(8 oz ÷ 16 oz) × $4.99 = 0.5 × $4.99 = $2.50The flour in your recipe costs $2.50, not the full $4.99.
Total Recipe Cost
Total Recipe Cost = Sum of all Ingredient CostsEach ingredient’s cost is calculated individually using the formula above, then summed together.
Cost Per Serving
Cost Per Serving = Total Recipe Cost ÷ Number of ServingsExample:
If the total recipe cost is $8.40 and the recipe serves 4 people:

After calculating the cost per serving, the tool classifies the recipe into one of three budget levels:
